Despicable Me 3 – Review

The franchise is back for the third time! With the return of reformed super-villain and new-found family man Gru (Steve Carell) and his team mates The Minions – who can only be described as yellow nuggets that wear goggles and dungarees, well at least they are on trend!

What’s new?? Well we are introduced to his long-lost twin brother Dru (also played by Carell), the billionaire with his golden locks who could have stepped off set of a Pantene advert! Our villain this time is Balthazar Bratt (South Park creator Trey Parker), a washed-up kids’ TV star who still rocks the mullet like Billy-Rae Cyrus and sports his violet shell suit with shoulder pads clearly stuck in a time warp from his 1980s heyday. That said Balthazar has been cleverly placed to appeal to both ends of the audience with his wacky dance moves for the kids and the old school soundtrack that accompanies him on-screen gives adults a little nostalgia.
It’s a laugh a minute, with clever sub plots giving the Minions their very own storyline which includes seeing them behind bars! Some great use of soundtrack as well with the search for a unicorn, “heist music” (Michael Jackson’s Bad) and of course every kids dream – self inflating bubblegum!

If your a fan of Minion-Mania and Pharell William hits then we suggest a visit to the big screen for this one!!
