As the excitement surrounding the FIFA World Cup 2026 continues, Bank of America has released an emotional new short film, Street of Dreams, bringing together football legend Sir David Beckham and an original song from U2 to tell a powerful story about resilience, hope and the life-changing impact of sport.
The cinematic campaign shines a spotlight on youth empowerment while supporting Bank of America’s growing Soccer with Us initiative, which aims to provide opportunities and life skills to more than one million young people around the world by the end of 2026.
A Story of Hope Through Football
At the heart of Street of Dreams is Calle, played by newcomer Nevaeh Derricks, whose life is turned upside down after experiencing homelessness. Despite the challenges she faces, football remains her source of hope, purpose and determination.
Throughout the film, Sir David Beckham appears as a symbolic inner voice—someone only Calle can see—encouraging her to believe in herself and continue pursuing her dream. The story explores how belief, mentorship and opportunity can have a lasting impact on a young person’s future.
The film is accompanied by U2’s newly released track, also titled Street of Dreams, helping to reinforce its emotional message.
Bank of America Expands ‘Soccer with Us’
The release also marks another milestone in Bank of America’s investment in grassroots football.
Through its expanding Soccer with Us programme, the bank plans to positively impact over one million young people globally by the end of 2026. The initiative supports children aged 6–18 by combining football with leadership development and life skills.
Programmes include:
- Soccer at Schools, delivered alongside the U.S. Soccer Federation
- Partnerships with the Soccer Forward Foundation
- A long-term ambition to make football accessible in every school across the United States by 2030
The wider initiative reflects Bank of America’s commitment to making football more inclusive while helping young people build confidence both on and off the pitch.
Supporting Street Child United
The launch of Street of Dreams also coincides with the conclusion of Street Child United’s #IAmSomebody Tour, delivered in partnership with Bank of America during the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The tour brought young leaders from the Street Child World Cup to communities across North America, allowing them to share their experiences with policymakers, football organisations and local communities.
Sir David Beckham also hosted an event at Inter Miami’s stadium, where participants discussed how football has helped transform their lives and strengthen their communities. The campaign follows the Street Child World Cup, held in Mexico City earlier this year, which welcomed 28 teams of street-connected young people from around the globe.
David Beckham on the Power of Belief
Speaking about the campaign, Sir David Beckham said football changed the course of his own life thanks to the people who believed in him.
He explained that working with Bank of America and Street Child United has introduced him to inspiring young people who have overcome extraordinary adversity, adding that the campaign aims to ensure more children are seen, heard and given opportunities through sport.
Beckham also highlighted football’s unique ability to build confidence, connection and possibility while stressing that every young person deserves someone who believes in their potential.
U2 Celebrate Street Child United
Members of U2 praised the work of Street Child United after attending the 2026 Street Child World Cup in Mexico City.
The band described witnessing talented young footballers overcoming significant obstacles while using the sport to rewrite their futures.
They also thanked Bank of America for supporting both Street Child United and (RED) over the years, saying they were honoured that their new song could help tell a much larger story about opportunity, inclusion and resilience.
Award-Winning Creative Team Behind the Film
Street of Dreams was directed by award-winning filmmaking duo King She—Radha Ganti and Robert Lopuski—whose previous work has earned more than 75 industry awards and nominations, including recognition at the Cannes Lions.
The production was created and developed by Freuds, with production handled alongside Somesuch, blending cinematic storytelling with the emotional themes of sport, music and imagination.
TV Commercial Airs During FIFA World Cup Coverage
Alongside the full short film, Bank of America has also produced a 30-second television commercial that will air throughout FIFA World Cup broadcasts across FOX and Telemundo in North America beginning 13 July.
