Club Rakuten: New membership programme offers points, perks and partnerships

Today, Rakuten launches Club Rakuten, a new and free membership programme that offers generous rewards on everyday spending – from shopping online to watching the latest blockbuster at home – with a welcome bonus for anyone who signs up before the end of the year.

Rakuten is one of the world’s leading e-commerce, communications and entertainment providers, helping more than 1.4 billion consumers around the world to shop, watch, read and chat. Best known in the UK for Rakuten TV, the company is now bringing together existing brands and partners under Club Rakuten to provide a simpler, more rewarding service for members, at a time when three quarters (75 per cent) are looking for ways to get better value for money.

Members will be able to gain points on their everyday spending across multiple categories, with offers available from some of the nation’s favourite brands, including, Lego, B&Q and ASOS. They can also be rewarded for watching TV and movies with their friends and family through Rakuten TV, or reading the latest best-seller with Rakuten Kobo. Consumers can earn between 1 point and 25 points per pound spent, competing with some of the UK’s best-known loyalty schemes, and making it quick and easy to build up points.

In addition to their day-to-day spending, Rakuten has also partnered with leading event discovery platform Fever so that members can gain points while taking part in the best experiences in their cities. From at-home interactive wine tastings or cooking masterclasses to drive-ins or immersive cocktail experiences, there’s something for everyone, whether from the comfort of their home, or out and about in their cities.

When it comes to redeeming their points, members are spoilt for choice, with a wide array of options that add value to every area of their lives. They can choose gift cards from leading retailers, reducing their day-to-day spend – or use their points to create ‘feel-good’ moments, such as watching the latest blockbuster at home or redeeming their points in exchange for a donation to one of more than 20,000 charities, including Save the Children, Macmillan Cancer Support and Dogs Trust.

In addition to rewards, Club Rakuten also offers its members special, money-can’t-buy perks. At launch, members can get VIP treatment including priority access and free upgrades at events with Fever, 20 per cent off FC Barcelona’s Culer’s Premium Membership, 25 per cent of their first book purchase with Rakuten Kobo, and seasonal discounts on a wide range of blockbuster movies with Rakuten TV – with more to come.

Putting members first is at the heart of Club Rakuten, which is why it is adding value through partnerships with variety of retailers and partners, generosity with points and perks and enhanced personalisation. As they use the platform, members will see more relevant offers, making their experience simpler, time-effective and rewarding.

As the Club Rakuten network grows, Rakuten plans to add more personalisation, new partners and enhanced perks to make the service simpler and more rewarding for members. Soon, it hopes to offer card-linked rewards, which means members will be able to get additional value whether they shop online or in-store.

Those signing up before 31 December 2020 will also receive a free joining bonus of 500 points (worth £5) when they spend £20 within 30 days of registering. Simply visit
