Clearspring has taken a leap in the direction of full sustainability, giving its delicious award-winning Organic Seaveg Crispies range a major packaging makeover, replacing outer packaging with recyclable paper-based material, and also eliminating nearly five million single-use plastic trays each year – an equivalent of 17.5 tonnes of waste.
After nearly two years of development and extensive packaging and product tests, Clearspring is removing the plastic trays that have until now been necessary to protect the toasted nori in each pack, with no impact on freshness, taste and shelf life. The removal of the plastic tray also means space-saving benefits for retailers, with smaller, more compact shelf-ready trade cases and a reconfiguration of units per case. The Organic Seaveg Crispies Singles range will go from 16 packs per trade case to 20, and the Seaveg Crispies Multipack units will go up from three units per Multipack to five, with six Multipacks in a trade case. The change in packaging means 25% more product requiring 50% less shelf space.
Also as part of this much anticipated packaging upgrade across the entire Seaveg Crispies range, the outer pack of the Seaveg Crispies Multipack will now be made from a recyclable paper-based material, to ensure even quicker alignment to the organic and plant-based credentials of the range.
Clearspring’s Organic Seaveg Crispies, which won the Nation’s Favourite Organic Snack 20232 at the Soil Association’s Best of Organic Market (BOOM) Awards, is also getting a design refresh. The slimmer, trayless packs have kept the essence of the old packaging design so that they are recognisable on shelf, however, will feature a trayless packaging message on pack and a stronger colour differentiation for each flavour, which includes Organic Sea Salt, Chilli, Ginger and Turmeric.
