Cialis Together marks World Sexual Health Day by launching ‘peekataboo’

Today, on World Sexual Health Day 2023, Cialis Together is aiming to facilitate the UK’s biggest ever conversation around men’s sexual wellness. To help spark the conversation, we have launched an interactive installation in Central London to raise awareness of the stigma around men’s sexual health issues, and in particular erection difficulties (ED).

In the UK, one in three men experience some degree of ED. The condition can happen at any age and lead to people experiencing the condition to feel ashamed and anxious with their partners. Of 3,445 UK men experiencing ED surveyed, 56% say that sex is a very important part of their relationship. Despite this, 63% claim they wouldn’t want anybody to know they have difficulties getting or keeping an erection, while 58% agree it is extremely embarrassing to not be able to get an erection.

New research from the charity The Urology Foundation, who surveyed 2,000 UK men, shows that nearly one in two men (46%) would not visit their doctor if they had ED. This demonstrates the unmet need to address the embarrassment British men feel about not being able to perform sexually and how uncomfortable they would feel talking about their sexual wellbeing with a healthcare professional. What’s more, 63% of men think ED is a normal sign of ageing and 78% aren’t aware that ED could be a sign of heart disease, showing the lack of understanding about ED, its causes, and how it can affect your overall health.

Cialis Together is committed to reducing the stigma around talking about ED. The peekataboo installation* has been created to encourage a more open dialogue around men’s sexual health, dispel the misconceptions that persist in British culture around men’s attitudes towards sex, and tackle the taboo about ED. Visitors can uncover the hidden truths about ED and men’s sexual health through a multi-sensory experience and have the opportunity to start a conversation about their sexual health with their partner. This is the first of many activities that Cialis Together is pioneering to open the conversation around ED. Experiencing peekataboo is totally free-of-charge, and the installation will be in King’s Cross, London, 4-7 September 2023.

“Many men who experience ED may delay seeking treatment due to embarrassment and fear of the impact on their sex lives or relationships. Cialis® Together is committed to opening the conversation around ED and supporting men and their partners to feel more confident to talk about the condition. We are breaking the taboo that remains around ED by spearheading our own cultural moment on World Sexual Health Day to raise awareness about the condition and how Cialis® Together can offer men a new option to manage their ED.”

Peekataboo has been designed and developed with sustainability top of mind. Most of the installation has been crafted from reused, recycled, or recyclable materials. Where possible, materials have been hired, rather than purchased solely for this event. This installation will be given a new lease of life at future events and through recycling programmes.

On the subject of new leases of life, it is clear from research that men are keen to explore solutions and take action to manage their ED. The study from The Urology Foundation also shows that 64% of men would consider a pill / non-prescription medicine to address any ED issues they may encounter. Cialis Together 10mg tablets are available for purchase without prescription across all pharmacies in Great Britain (and soon in Northern Ireland) for the treatment of ED. This is the first over the counter (OTC) medicine for ED that is effective for up to 36 hours (erections won’t last for 36 hours, only when sexually aroused).Until now, OTC treatments for ED available in the UK last up to 4 hours. With Cialis Together, people living with erection difficulties now have an alternative OTC treatment with a longer duration of effectiveness. Trusted by 84 million men worldwide – tadalafil, the active ingredient of Cialis Together, has been prescribed for over 20 years.** Pharmacists will be able to determine whether treatment is appropriate for the patient and can give advice on ED, usage of the medicine, its potential side effects, and if further consultation with a general practitioner is required.
