Christmas at Ask Italian

By now, we are fully in the swing of Christmas parties, drinks, lunches and dinners but when you don’t fancy hosting or having to deal with the tidy-up, we highly recommend a visit to ASK Italian. We loved their laid back decor, effortless style and most importantly, delicious food.

We took a trip to the newly refurbished Epsom branch and started off with a huge antipasti platter of Mushrooms al forno, calamari, chicken lecca-lecca, dough sticks and zucchini fritte, served with a spicy tomato dip and garlic mayonnaise. This obviously wasn’t enough, so we tucked into the Minestrone soup too!

Onto the main event, we tried the lasagne and the roast pork belly with potatoes, which were filling and perfectly seasoned. But the real show stopper was the slow-cooked beef in chianti sauce which was served with the perfect accompaniment of garlic bread to soak up the most delicious, rich, aromatic sauce.

We finished with the profiteroles and warm pear tart – which actually did finish us off!

For a high-street chain, this was definitely one of the best meals we have tried for a reasonable price. We can highly recommend a visit to ASK Italian – you won’t be disappointed.

They also have a selection of delicious Christmas specials including;

N’duja Garlic Bread Wreath, a wreath-shaped garlic bread stuffed with spicy N’duja sausage meat and mozzarella, served with a side of N’duja ketchup for those who really want to spice things up.

Christmas Carbonara, a festive version of the ASK classic featuring the seasons veg – brussels sprouts. When it comes to sprouts, people either love them or loathe them, but when they’re accompanied by frilly fresh egg tagliatelle and pancetta, in a velvety carbonara sauce made with mascarpone, pecorino and riserva cheese, what’s not to love?

Prima Pizza Natale – served with delicious toppings of chicken, balsamic red onion, spinach and red pepper pearls and a ‘stuffing’ crust filled with chicken, pancetta and chestnuts.

The seasonal festivities don’t stop there though, as brand new for Christmas 2019 at ASK Italian is the Glittery Gingerbread Latte Cake dessert – a warm gingerbread latte cake decked with a sparkly sauce, and served with cream, making it the perfect treat to celebrate in style this festive season. And if that’s not enough to tantalise your taste buds, the Truffled Mushroom Cheese Fondue with a herb crumb, truffle infused olive oil, and served with dough balls to dip and dunk is a decadent addition to any winter feast.
