Amazon MGM Studios has dropped the first look at MERCY, an explosive new sci-fi thriller starring Chris Pratt as a detective racing against time — and technology — to clear his name. The film arrives only in cinemas on January 23, 2026, and according to early buzz, “You are going to want to see this in 3D.”
Set in a near-future world where artificial intelligence has become the cornerstone of the justice system, MERCY follows a detective (Pratt) accused of murdering his wife. With just 90 minutes to plead his case, he must convince an advanced A.I. judge — played by Rebecca Ferguson — not to condemn him. The twist? He was one of the biggest champions of the A.I. system now determining his fate.
Directed by visionary filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Profile), the film blends high-stakes action with psychological tension and cutting-edge technology, setting the stage for one of 2026’s most anticipated sci-fi releases.
