CHELSEA STADIUMS RENAMED TO ‘SAMFORD BRIDGE’ AND ‘KERRSMEADOW’ TO MARK THE CONTRACT RENEWAL OF LEGENDARY STRIKER SAM KERR!

As world-class striker Sam Kerr renews her contract with Chelsea Women until 2026, the club has temporarily renamed ‘Samford Bridge’ and ‘Kerrsmeadow’ in her honour.

Since signing for Chelsea in 2019, Kerr has scored an outstanding 99 goals in 128 matches. She has previously been awarded the Women’s Super League (WSL) Golden Boot and has been part of the squads who won back to back Women’s Super League and FA Cup titles.

Pictured at ‘Samford Bridge’, Kerr poses with the new sign at the stadium. The sign is installed temporarily at Britannia Gate and will remain up until 16th June, 2024.

Following the success of the club this year – including an unprecedented fifth consecutive Women’s Super League championship (seventh overall) alongside record-breaking attendances at the West London stadium – the signing marks the start of a new era in the continued growth of the team.

Chelsea Women striker, Sam Kerr said: “It’s an honour to play for Chelsea and it’s so cool to see the hallowed turf renamed for me – what a welcome home. I have so many memories playing at Kingsmeadow and The Bridge and I’m looking forward to doing that all again next season. I can’t wait to be back playing in front of a packed crowd of our incredible fans doing what we do best – winning and bringing home silverware… I mean we are Chelsea after all.”

Chelsea Women compete in the Women’s Super League with home games at Kingsmeadow in Kingston upon Thames with some select games at Stamford Bridge in West London.

Tickets for the 2024/2025 season will be released soon. To be the first to know about ticketing across season tickets, packages and individual tickets, head to Chelsea FC
