The biggest festival of the year, with one of the biggest line ups! Who else would host the main stage at Wireless this year other than the biggest name in radio right now… I got to catch up with the Queen of Sass Miss Yinka Bokinni
In 3 words (just 3) sum up how it felt to be covering the main stage at pretty much the biggest urban festival in the UK?
IN. CRED. IBLE
The line up this year was amazing what was the standout performance for you?
CARDI B WAS AMAZING! She put on a wicked show and really gave us more than we bargained for, including her wig which she threw into the crowd lol
You are an expert on rap and grime, so which up and coming acts should we look out for this summer?
In terms of rap I would say D Block Europe and Aitch are two acts who should most definitely be on your radar. Ms Banks as well, she is a force to be reckoned with and I love it
Do you get nervous hosting huge events like these? If so, how do you overcome the nerves?
I want to say no but there was a moment just before I came out at Wireless Festival where I thought “OMG there are 30,000 people who I have to entertain eeeek” but it only lasted maybe 5 mins and then I was back to being a boss lol (also I didn’t actually count how many people were there)
You are well known for having your own unique sense of style. Can you talk us through your outfit choice for Wireless?
I wore a Daily Paper x LAPP (which are two brands I adore) suit. I needed something that I would feel comfortable in and something that would let me move around but also I wanted to look sassy. I think I achieved this (I hope)
Finally, now that Wireless is over, we’d love you to share your ultimate 2019 Wireless playlist with us so we can continue to enjoy the sounds of summer all year long
Oooooh I actually have one!
