As we approach our seventh week of lockdown, Burger King is inviting Brits to put their stacked butter-laden pancakes and beautiful sourdough bakes to one side and instead embrace lockdown foodie fails to win a Whopper on the house.
As the everything-is-entirely-homemade mentality wears thin and Brits’ iso-life obsession with cooking perfection wanes, we’re saying goodbye to the pics of home-made burgers and hello to the pics of I-can’t-do-it-anymore-burgers. Lockdown has encouraged us all to unleash our inner Michelin Star chef and top notch baker but the reality is, our BBQ burgers are burnt, our breads aren’t rising, our cakes are collapsing, and we’re missing the real deal and the experts making it for us.
Burger King is saying it’s ok to just #WishItWasAWhopper, inviting consumers to get ugly on Instagram by posting their at-home cooking shockers to @BurgerKingUK with #WishItWasAWhopper. The worst foodie fails will be celebrated and rewarded with vouchers to treat themselves to a real-deal Whopper as Burger King restaurants re-open across the UK.
Burger King has now re-opened 12 restaurants for delivery across the UK including its first restaurant for customer drive thru this week. As part of its phased re-opening, Burger King plans to re-open one restaurant in every city by 31st May and will continue to donate free meals to NHS hospitals local to the re-opened restaurants.
