BBC Radio 1Xtra Predicts Hottest Acts of 2016

BBC Radio 1Xtra announced the top 15 acts from the world of black music and underground sounds that are sure to grace the top charts for 2016 in their annual Hot For List. Creating the line-up is AKA, Bryson Tiller, Bugzy Malone, Izzy Bizu, J Hus, Kehlan, Kiko Bun, Kojey Radical, Mabe, Nao, Samm Henshaw, Section Boyz, Vershon, WSTRN and Yungen.

Chosen by 1Xtra’s DJs and production staff, the Hot For list introduces listeners to some of the artists the station predicts to be big on the scene over the next 12 months, with 2015’s list including the likes of Stormzy, Lion Babe, Blonde and Little Simz who went on to have a successful year, with support from BBC Radio 1Xtra throughout.

Previous artists to feature in the Hot For list include Krept & Konan (2014), Sam Smith (2014), Ella Eyre (2014), The Weeknd (2013), Disclosure (2013), Frank Ocean (2012), Wretch 32 (2011) and Wiz Khalifa (2011).

MistaJam says: “Since its inception, the BBC Radio 1Xtra Hot For list has not only predicted those artists that would be big on the underground but also those scenes, trends and artists that will completely dominate popular culture over the next 12 months, making it THE barometer music fans need to tell them the artists that will own 2016!

It’s also a real chance to celebrate the support & nurturing that only BBC Radio 1Xtra can give to up and coming niche artists to allow them to develop themselves into the mainstream influencing international stars so many previous Hot For artists have become.”

Bryson Tiller says: “I feel great about being included on 1Xtras ‘Hot For 2016’ list. A lot of great artists have graced this list and I’m honoured to be a part of.”

Kehlani says: “I’m honoured to be included in the Hot For 2016, it’s unreal and I hope to build even stronger relationships at BBC. Much love to the UK!”
