Alt. Sport Meets: Andres Iniesta

On his footballing idols

My idol, or my idols, were always Laudrup and Guardiola. They were the two players I most looked up to, the two players whose style I tried to base myself on the most, and copy as much as possible whilst keeping my own style. For me as a player, they were the two who I most looked up to when I was younger.

On his future as a manager

It’s something that I would like to do when I finish playing, or at least try to do. I’d love to study to become a manager and earn the qualification.

On the end of the LaLiga season

Well, above all I hope the season finishes with the current leader, which is Barça. I’d love them to win it for obvious reasons. A lot can happen in the eleven remaining matchdays, many points are still to be won, in the final matchdays there is always plenty on the line and lots of tension with every team playing for something, which makes things more complicated and more equal. However, like I said at the start, I hope LaLiga finishes with Barça as champions, and that they manage top form in the last 11 matches to win it once again.

On his favourite midfielder in LaLiga

There are many good midfielders in LaLiga, but for me the best are ‘Busi,’ Rakitic, the new boys such as Arthur and de Jong. I’ll also say the legend that is Santi Cazorla.

On his ideal player

I’d say Leo’s left foot, Xavi’s right foot, Ramos’ heading ability and Cristiano’s strength.
