Whenever people ask me, “What type of music do you listen to?†Really- how could anyone answer that?? Are there people out there who really only listen to one kind of music? If I HAD to narrow it down my only reply would be, “good musicâ€. So this month for my playlist I channeled a winter storm a few years ago where I was snowed into my Boston apartment for 3 days and had nothing to do but listen to good music. Living in sunny L.A. now I occasionally get nostalgic of those days. In honor of a time past I included a song by my favorite band of the last ten years, Circa Survive. Their new record, “Descencus†is perfect and even though they keep doing the same things for some reason it keeps working. Without them I surely wouldn’t be in music.
But anyways, it was finally raining and I decided to peruse one of my favorite blogs, @TinManLondon, where I stumbled upon my new favorite artist and Londonite, Jack Garrat. The perfect blend of human and electronic… plus the kid has soul. It doesn’t get much better than that! Speaking of soul… Brooklyn’s up-and-comer SEIDS released her debut single where she sings her heart out about the sorrows of being in a new city. A feeling that I know many of us can relate to. If you aren’t familiar with Nashville’s electronic duo Basecamp, then you should immediately get familiar with their new single “Shudder†as it will certainly make you do just that.
Last but certainly not least, I had the great honor of seeing PPL MVR this month…. a band that can be best described as an experience like no other. Complete with Sasquatch and Abominable Snowman costumes- you are sure to get a hoot out of watching first video.
Now snuggle up and enjoy!
