ALEX AND OLIVIA BOWEN PARTNER WITH VISION EXPRESS FOR SECOND COLLECTION

Love Island couple, Alex and Olivia Bowen have partnered with Vision Express to curate their Second Pair Collection, taking inspiration from some of the nation’s most iconic glasses wearers, including Audrey Hepburn, Elton John and Kim Kardashian.

The curation is designed to inspire Brits to ‘get the look’ of some of their favourite celebrity styles with costs spread monthly by using Vision Express’s Eyecare Plan.

To find some of the most iconic looks, Vision Express polled the nation on their favourite glasses wearers with the top spots including Elton John, Alan Carr, Audrey Hepburn, Kim Kardashian, Greg Davies and Bono.

Olivia stunned wearing a showstopping black bodysuit and enviable mid-length leather boots, with her hair slicked backwards. The style was coupled with Ray-Ban sunglasses as she posed as the ‘Iconic Reality Star’, a look inspired by Kim Kardashian.

The former Love Island star then changed into a simple black dress, accessorised with a dazzling pearl necklace and Dolce Gabbana glasses. She imitated the look of ‘The Hollywood Star’, a style inspired by Audrey Hepburn.

Olivia Bowen says: “When I wear my glasses – whether that’s my prescription glasses or sunglasses, I become a more confident version of myself. That’s why Alex and I were so excited to partner with Vision Express to not only showcase their wide range of designer glasses on offer, but to also show how easily a chic pair of glasses can transform how you look and feel. Vision Express’s Eyecare Plan is an effective and affordable way for glasses wearers to always stay on trend.”

Her partner and former Love Island star, Alex Bowen looked suave wearing a navy suit and bow tie, accessorised with a sparkly guitar brooch. “The Music Star” look, inspired by Elton John, was styled with designer Prada Sunglasses.

Alex looked polished as he changed into a black shirt and suit to successfully rock the “The Movie Star” look, taking inspiration from Brad Pitt. The look was accessorised with Ray-Ban Mr Burbank glasses.

Alex Bowen says: ”You really can transform your look just by wearing a stylish pair of glasses and that’s why we want to show off some of the best looks, and how effective a second pair of glasses can be. People assume stylish glasses are really expensive, but Vision Express’s Eyecare Plan is a way to look after your eye health, feel confident and manage the cost – all in one.”

It appears the nation is influenced by celebrity trends when it comes to choosing their glasses, with a fifth (20 per cent) of Brits saying they would be more likely to wear glasses if their favourite celebrity did and and one in five (22 per cent) admitting their fashion purchases are influenced by celebrities. Celebrities seem to have a lot more influence over Gen Z (40 per cent) and millennials (38 per cent) when it comes to fashion purchases, compared to just 5 per cent of baby boomers.

But that’s not the only thing Brits are influenced by when it comes to fashion purchases, as nearly a third (28 per cent) of Gen Z name TikTok as the first place they go to for style inspiration, compared to millennials who still use Instagram (24 per cent) as their go-to. Baby boomers are less in favour of social media for inspiration, with magazines their most popular source of inspiration (8 per cent).

The research also revealed Brits spend almost £6 billion* on glasses and sunglasses a year on average, with Gen Z and millennials spending a third (35 per cent) more than baby boomers.

When it comes to admitting how many pairs of glasses they own, a quarter (24 per cent) of Gen Z own more than three pairs of glasses but a huge one in 10 (11 per cent) even own six pairs or more.

The data looking into glasses trends and attitudes also showed that getting style correct is important, with Brits getting the ‘ick’ from people wearing sunglasses indoors (30 per cent), sunglasses at night (30 per cent), and wearing glasses shaped as other things like hearts or stars (26 per cent). Wearing clear lenses with no prescription (22 per cent) and sunglasses being too big for the face (22 per cent) also were top ‘icks’.

Lisa Cooper, Marketing Director at Vision Express says”Consumers are savvier than ever and looking to get much more for their money without compromising on style. Our Eyecare Plan has been designed to make things as easy as possible to keep your eyes healthy and you feeling good, while managing the cost.
