ALDI LAUNCHES REAL-LIFE SUPERMARKET SWEEP COMPETITION ACROSS ENGLAND AND WALES TO SUPPORT TEENAGE CANCER TRUST

Ever dreamed of racing through an Aldi store filling your trolley before the clock runs out? That dream is becoming a reality for ten lucky shoppers as Aldi UK launches its first-ever Supermarket Sweep competition across England and Wales, combining the thrill of a trolley dash with fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust.

The exciting initiative gives winners just five minutes to fill their trolley with Aldi products, with the supermarket donating the full value of every winning shop directly to the charity supporting young people with cancer across the UK.

Aldi’s Supermarket Sweep Heads to England and Wales

After years of success in Scotland, Aldi is expanding its much-loved Supermarket Sweep fundraiser south of the border for the very first time.

Ten winners will be selected to take part in the challenge at their local Aldi store, racing against the clock to grab as many products as possible in just five minutes.

Unlike a traditional competition where shoppers keep the prizes, Aldi will instead donate the total value of each trolley directly to Teenage Cancer Trust, helping fund specialist care and support for teenagers and young adults facing cancer.

Supporting Teenage Cancer Trust

Aldi has partnered with Teenage Cancer Trust since 2017, and together with its customers and colleagues has now raised more than £13 million.

The retailer has set an ambitious target of raising £20 million by 2031, helping the charity continue providing specialist nurses, dedicated hospital units and vital emotional support for young people diagnosed with cancer.

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said:

“Our customers are always incredibly supportive of the causes we champion, and we’re pleased to be bringing this much-loved fundraising initiative to England and Wales for the first time.

“We can’t wait to give shoppers the opportunity to put their trolley-dashing skills to the test, while helping to raise vital funds for Teenage Cancer Trust. Every pound raised will help the charity continue providing specialist care and support to young people with cancer when they need it most.”

Why This Fundraiser Matters

According to Teenage Cancer Trust, cancer remains the biggest disease-related killer of teenagers and young adults in the UK. The charity works to ensure no young person faces cancer alone by providing specialist nurses, dedicated hospital wards and emotional support throughout treatment.

Vikki Calcutt, Co-Director of Engagement at Teenage Cancer Trust, said:

“Cancer kills more teenagers and young adults in the UK than any other disease, yet cancer care wasn’t made for young people. Teenage Cancer Trust exists to make sure no young person goes through the trauma of cancer alone—but we can’t do it without support.

“That’s why we’re so grateful to Aldi for supporting us over the last nine years. Thank you to everyone getting involved and helping to make a difference – and good luck to all the trolley dashers!”

Why Supermarket Sweep Still Captivates Shoppers

The idea of a supermarket trolley dash has remained a favourite with British shoppers for decades, inspired by the classic television game show. Aldi’s fundraising version adds a meaningful twist by turning every item collected into a charitable donation rather than a personal prize.

The format has already proved hugely successful in Scotland, where Aldi’s Supermarket Sweep initiative has raised more than £60,000 for charity over the past decade. Bringing the event to England and Wales allows even more communities to take part while supporting an important cause.
