Five of the biggest football fan influencers from across the country took on an exclusive Made to Play Challenge – a winner takes all poker tournament with £4,000 up for grabs.
Held at iconic London football stadium The Valley, home of Charlton Athletic FC, Arsenal fan Joel Beya of Cheeky Sport scooped the prize pot after comfortably dispatching fellow gunner and self-confessed poker rookie Kelechi Anyikude of AFTV in the final heads up.
After winning, Joel said: “If I’m honest with you, it doesn’t usually happen. An all Arsenal final. I feel like a European champion. [Fellow competitors] Flex and Rory… Man United, Chelsea the rivalry is strong… well it wasn’t today. Of course I expected to win. Of course!”
Earlier in the game Chelsea fan vlogger and hot pre-tournament favourite Rory Jennings was first to be eliminated, with Man United fan Flex and Everton diehard and Toffees TV vlogger Peter McPartland soon also striking out.
Whilst staged live in person, the tournament took place on 888poker’s mobile app, in a private tournament room set up by the poker room – a feature called “play with friends” that all 888poker players can take advantage of in both mobile and desktop clients.
Before the tournament, the five football fans had worked together to complete a series of challenges to build up a prize poll from £0 to £4,000 to take into the final table.
All completed a series of challenges to test their poker skills, such as nerve, bluffing, risk-taking and know-how, as well as being quizzed on their football and poker knowledge.
