It was certainly a big weekend in New York. Alongside the 3 hour long 40 year anniversary of Saturday Night Live, it was also time once again for the NBA All Star Game. Each year, the best players from the NBA are split between the East and West coast to see which team can become the absolute best of the best in the NBA. The game was played at the notorious Madison Square Garden for the first time since 1998, something that many thought would bring the East Coast a bit of luck during the game.
The game itself was incredibly exciting. The West Coast quickly took the lead, finishing the first quarter with a lead of 47 to 36 and was able to hold onto that lead until the end of the third quarter, when the East Coast was able to get their hands on the ball and bring the game to a tie at 122 points. The final quarter was a nail biter, but in the end, the West Coast won the game, with a final score of 163 to 158.
Amazing athletes were not the only noteworthy people present at the All Star Game Saturday night. Sitting courtside to watch the East and West coasts battle were Jay-Z and his lady Beyoncé (no surprise there), Rihanna, Nikki Minaj, and Diddy. Aside from the largest names in music, several other stars were present at the game including Ben Stiller, Odell Beckham Jr, and former President of the United States, Bill Clinton. Christina Aguilera, blowing the crowd away with her rendition of the US National Anthem, opened the game and Nikki Minaj joined Ariana Grande for a surprise halftime show to entertain the crowd. The 2015 All Star game was not only a night filled with great athletes, but also a night with great music and a quite a few surprises which made it one of the most memorable games yet.
