Washington D.C. is one of the most popular vacation spots in the U.S. With abundant history, culture, and plenty of entertainment, the only downside to visiting D.C. is trying to find a decent hotel that is comfortable but does not sacrifice staying in the city. That is where the newly renovated the Donovan House comes in.
Run by Kimpton’s Hotel and Resturants, the Donovan House is an ultra-modern hotel.  It brings elevated level of style and service to downtown Washington, with its sleek design, rooftop pool, and two culinary venues helmed by Chef Jennifer Nguyen: Zentan, a modern Asian-inspired restaurant on the ground floor, and DNV Rooftop, the hotel’s rooftop lounge with Asian street food, seasonal cocktails and sweeping views of Thomas Circle.
The Donovan House offers a completely unique experience because of its location; at the heart of busy 14th Street Corridor, the 193-room hotel is surrounded by museums, galleries, theatres, shopping, and nightlife and is walking distance to the White House and Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Finished in June 2014, Kimpton Hotels announced the completion of the multimillion-dollar renovation that the Donovan House was undergoing.
Boston based architecture and urban design firm specializing in luxury hospitality design and interior architecture. The design firm successfully create a hotel with a stylish new décor with a sophisticated color palette of contemporary grey and purple with rust accents. The faux leather headboards located in each room compliment the sleek black and white side tables, and the addition of a custom rust-colored faux crocodile bench, a pattern which is echoed on the room’s grey carpet.
Hotel guests can relax in canopy beds swathed in Kimpton’s signature zebra print Frette sheets while watching a new 55-inch inset television. The décor is minimalistic and adorned with a single circular black and white print of the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. The redesign has brought new life to the Donovan House. The new modern look meshes well with the old school feel that only DC can offer.
