2022’S TOP 5 GAMES ON PS5, AND HOW LONG IT TAKES TO COMPLETE THEM

A new study has revealed that Elden Ring is the top PS5 game of 2022 and that it takes 132 hours to complete 100%.

The research was conducted by gaming site Solitaired.com who analysed data on 2022’s PS5 games to reveal the highest scoring based on reviews and completion times. Data was gathered from Metacritic.com and howtobeat.com.

In first place with a Metacritic score of 96 is Elden Ring. The game, with world creation by Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R. R. Martin, takes players through a fantasy and action RPG adventure as they try to repair the titular ‘Elden Ring’ and become the new ‘Elden Lord’. Elden ring takes 54 hours to complete the main story and 132 hours for full completion.

The second-best PS5 game by Metascore this year is God of War: Ragnarök with a score of 94. This instalment of the God of War series sees Kratos take on more Gods of Norse Mythology as he tries to keep his son safe. God of War: Ragnarök takes 23.5 hours to complete the main story and 48.5 hours to complete the game 100%.

In third place is Persona 5 Royal with a Metascore of 91. In this RPG, after being forced to transfer to a high school in Tokyo, the protagonist puts on a mask and becomes ‘Joker’ – and slowly learns of a broader conspiracy to influence the hearts of Tokyo. Persona 5 Royal is the longest game in the top 5 PS5 games as it takes 103 hours to complete the main story and 143 hours to complete the game 100%; nearly 6 full days.

The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe is fourth with a Metascore of 89. This interactive story/adventure sees players controlling a silent protagonist called Stanley through diverging pathways. Depending on the choices the player makes, the player will receive a differing ending. The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe is the by far the shortest game in the top 10 with a main story completion time of 2 hours and a 100% completion time of 9 hours. The short completion time does not take away from the quality of this game, with an almost 90 metascore.

Fifth, is The Last of Us Part I with a Metascore of 88. The Last of Us Part I is a remake of the 2013 video game the ‘The Last of Us’, and is a post-apocalyptic  action/adventure game where protagonists ‘Joel’ and ‘Ellie’ traverse across America. The main story takes 14 hours to complete, and it takes 21 hours to complete the game 100%.

In joint fifth place is Horizon Forbidden West with a Metascore of 88. Horizon Forbidden West is an action RPG set in a post-apocalyptic version of the western United States which is recovering from the aftermath of an extinction event caused by rogue robots. Horizon Forbidden West takes approximately 28.5 hours to complete the main storyline and 88 hours to complete 100%.

Some games that didn’t make the top 5 but deserve an honourable mention for breaking into the top 10 include – Gran Turismo 7, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, Destiny 2: The Witch Queen and Stray.
