PACK’D (www.packd.co.uk), the innovative Brixton-based company won the prestigious accolade of Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Amazon Growing Business Awards on the 30th November.
The young entrepreneurs are on a mission to change the way we consume health drinks, with a new and improved way to get your smoothie fix in under a minute with frozen fruit and veg mixes, portioned out for perfect balance and targeted nutrition, bolstered by sachets of superfood blends.
Founder, Luke Johnstone, 27, saw off competition from hundreds of entrepreneurs and businesses from across the UK. The judges commended Luke’s drive and determination; having grown up in a tough housing estate in Peckham, South East London, he was determined to build a strong future, initially on the pro-footballing track, after an injury Luke decided to build a healthy smoothie brand and his first port of call was The Prince’s Trust, an organisation that had inspired him as a youth. Having secured vital mentorship from the Trust, Luke continues to work to promote their work, speaking at The Houses of Parliament and in schools, inspiring young people to broaden their horizons and follow in his footsteps.
Speaking after picking up the award, Founder Luke Johnstone said:
I’m absolutely over the moon to win our Amazon Growing Business Award. PACK’D is only two years old and to get such high praise from industry leaders like Amazon, the CBI and Real Business is both humbling and exciting. The award puts us on a great platform for 2017 and will help fuel the continued growth of our frozen smoothie kit company. I’m ecstatic to be taking the award back to the team in our (rather unusual) shipping container HQ in Brixton.
