International Day of the Girl (IDG) is October 11, 2016. It’s a day to stand up and take action in solidarity with girls around the world.
This #1DG2016, Girl Up is asking its supporters to post a photo of their #GIRLHERO on social media – tag her, tag Girl Up, and repeat! Any and all #GIRLHEROs should be celebrated – your mum, your best friend, your mentor, your inspiration!
Their newest Girl Up Champion, actress and model Cara Delevingne is kicking off a #1DG206 Snapchat Relay, followed by Teen Advisors around the world sharing their #GIRLHERO(es) in Girl Up’s Snapchat story.
Girl Up know that every girl is a hero so they have also made a quiz for you to find your #GIRLHERO superpower: bold, artsy, brainy, sporty, courageous, or inspiring.
And the fun doesn’t stop after October 11; Girl Up will be continuing the momentum of IDG by celebrating Week of the Girl (October 11-18).
Girls’ Progress = Goals’ Progress: A Global Girl Data Movement This year, UNICEF are celebrating #1DG2016 by highlighting work being one to close the gender data gap in order to achieve gender equality.
