ONCE UPON A WIGWAM (Queen of Hoxton, 1 Curtain Road, London, EC2A 3JX)
The Queen of Hoxton’s WigWam returns once again this winter for Once Upon A WigWam, a Brothers Grimm fairy tale inspired winter rooftop pop-up. If you’ve ever been to Queen of Hoxton before, you’ll already know that they like to transform their rooftop in a number of ways depending on the season. This time, they have transformed it into a magical land which makes you forget where you are! Walking up what seems like hundreds of stairs (okay slight exaggeration), you’re not sure what to expect until you reach the top, and then you arrive… From the second that you enter the giant tepee, your world has been converted into woodlands galore, with open roaring fires, logs, and even a treehouse in the centre.
If you walk through the dimly lit, cosy woodland to the other side, you’re brought to the outside space which is just as special. Grab a log next to the fire to stay warm and if you still feel cold then head over to the bar to grab one of their special new winter warmer cocktails in a funky tin mug to add to your woodland experience. Our favourite has to be the Gardener’s Grog (Hot blackcurrant, blackberry & rosemary gin punch) or The Big Bad Buttered Rum (The Queen’s famous hot buttered rum) – and don’t forget to grab some marshmallows to roast on the fire too! It does get pretty busy up there so don’t forget to get down nice and early!
Wigwam will be closed from Christmas eve through to 2nd Jan, but will then open up again until the end of March 2016! So that leaves you just enough time to check it out and then go back again… and again?
