Verge Loves: The Painted Lady, Shoreditch

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to The Painted Lady for some treatments. The Shoreditch based salon shows expertise in not only contemporary styling, but also vintage styling – making it stand out from the crowd. Belinda, the owner of the salon, could write a book about vintage styling, well, actually – she really has. Style Me Vintage, by Belinda Hay, shows tutorials and pictures of some classic vintage styles, with easy to follow How To guides and pictures to help you along. Perfect if you fancy trying something new, these classic retro styles look fantastic.  I was happy to know I was clearly in the hands of an expert.

On first walking in to The Painted Lady I felt completely comfortable, welcomed, and in awe of the lovely salon. Unlike many hairdressers I have been in, the salon had real character. There was no uneasy clinical atmosphere, just beautiful exposed brickwork and vintage style décor.

Belinda was treating me to a blow dry, and in all honesty, it was the best blow dry I’ve EVER had. The products used on my hair made it super soft, healthy and gave my usually pretty dull hair a lovely shine. I had previously not heard of the products used; Davines, an Italian brand. But Belinda kindly supplied me with a few samples which have really made a difference to my hair. The finishing look of my hair was bouncy, full of volume, with some subtle curl. Not one to blow my own trumpet, but I looked great. If I could have Belinda to wash and blow dry my hair every day I’m pretty sure my locks would be famous by now….

I then had a manicure from Tina, who was also absolutely lovely. My hands were treated to a relaxing massage with luxurious Aesop hand cream, and my nails filed and painted perfectly. The salon has a huge array of colours to choose from; brights, pastels, neutrals and (my personal favourite) darks. I went for a dark grey OPI polish which came out wonderful. My nails are still looking pristine, and I’m sure this manicure will last!

I was very happy with the treatments I was provided in the salon, and walked out feeling like a new woman! I really can’t recommend this place more. The prices are really great too, and luckily for you, The Painted Lady has some top offers coming up for you guys. Check it out:
