If like me, you are in your final year at university and the final semester is hitting you like a truck then you are sure to be over worked, tired and stressed. Stress is the overwhelming feeling of too much mental and emotional pressure, which does not help one tiny bit when we have piles and piles of work to get done; dissertations, projects and whatever else university expects from you.
Even if you’re not at university, January can be a tense and difficult month for everyone. Post-Christmas financial worries and crash diets can get to many of us; as well as those with intense and onerous jobs and careers! Fear not, I’ve found a great product which can help to soothe and relieve some anxiety we may be experiencing.
Calm Balm by Skin and Tonic London, is an organic, multifunctional balm with roman chamomile and English lavender which aids your mood and your skin in moments where you’re feeling a little stressed out.
It’s made by hand in Britain with organically certified and highly therapeutic ingredients, so there are no nasty synthetic chemicals – they never use more than 7 ingredients in each product! It is unisex so it’s ideal for both women and men who need a little relaxation and calming to escape from some of the chaos.
The company, owned and run by Sarah and her boyfriend Josh, strongly believe in simple and organic skincare, is ethical and sustainable – supporting local British and French producers and farmers, and is also 100% cruelty free so no animal testing, which is always a bonus. Even the packaging is completely recyclable meaning it’s great for the environment. They also donate 10% of profits to charity which helps provide clean water to those who need it most in less fortunate countries.
Calm balm also doubles as a great moisturiser for dry skin, filled with antioxidants and nutrients – it’s easy on your skin, gentle and nourishing and so is suitable for anyone to use. Rub on your wrists and temples, breathe in deeply to relax and calm your mood. Use as a moisture boost wherever you may need it and it can also be used to help you get a restful night’s sleep, which is something I am always lacking – rub in to the palms of your hands, cup over your face and take deep breaths, inhaling the scent and allow it to lull you to sleep. I’ve found that even just having a whiff from the jar calms me a little also.
A 50g jar costs £23 but lasts for ages! This is my new handbag staple, I’ll be taking this everywhere with me- keeping it close and handy at university around deadline time.
