With the UK grime scene at its peak what better place to be this summer than at The Strawberries and Creem Festival, taking place at Haggis Farm on Saturday 17th June. This year the festival will be a concoction of UK Grime, Urban and Dance music all in one place, with superstars and legends of the music genres gracing the stage!
Strawberries & Creem festival is run by a small group of Cambridge locals, students and graduates who set up the festival in 2014 as a 900 attendee ‘garden-party’ style event, to celebrate the end of uni exams. It was more successful than they had ever anticipated, and 2015 and 2016 doubled their capacity year on year – Strawberries & Creem is now a 10,000 capacity event!
This year saw media savvy Strawberries & Creem in conjunction with Cambridge University doing something just a little different, well actually A LOT different!
“We wanted to do something a bit unpredictable for the lineup launch. After seeing a lot of festivals ‘launch’ their lineups this year, we were looking for unique ways to make the announcement stand out. Luckily we’re in close proximity to one of the smartest institutions (Cambridge University) in the world who were on hand to help us out. Launching the lineup in space is about as big as we go and never been done before. It’s a proper lineup launch!” – Strawberries & Creem founder William Young.
The festival will be the first to ever announce the line up from SPACE! Yes, they are launching their lineup 20km up into space, in what is a first for festival announcements. The feat was captured live with a GoPro camera and the world watched on in anticipation, glued to the screen waiting for the big reveal. The line-up did not disappoint with Headliners: Global superstar Shaggy partnering up to lead the event with Godfather of Grime Wiley.
These two mega-stars join 40+ acts across 3 stages, which include UK rap prodigies AJ Tracey and J Hus, disco-house legend Dimitri From Paris, Garage pioneers Artful Dodger and So Solid Crew, Gentleman’s Dub Club and The Streets’ Mike Skinner.
