THE MOST ‘RECOGNISABLE’ VOICEs IN MUSIC with Deezer

Barry White has officially been named as having the most recognisable voice in music, according to new research by Deezer, the world’s most personal streaming service.

Brits were asked to identify some of the most distinctive voices in music history, with 75% of the 1,500 Brits polled recognising Barry White’s famously deep vocals within 3 seconds of listening. The maestro was closely followed by Stevie Wonder and Tina Turner, who were identified in 3 second clips by 71% and 69% of audiences respectively. Surprisingly, the best-selling global recording artist of 2017, Ed Sheeran, hit number five and was beaten by Eminem and Stevie Wonder.

Respondents also listened to artists across a mix of genre playlists (rock, rap, grime, pop and country), chosen by Deezer music editors. Adele‘s mellow tones were the most recognisable in Pop (42%), while Dizzee Rascal’s voice reached the top spot for Grime (34%).

The research was conducted to celebrate the launch of Deezer on Amazon Alexa and the unique power of our voices. Music fans are now able to use voice commands to discover their favourite songs on the streaming service.
