For all the adrenalin junkies out there, Simon West’s Wild Card, an adaptation of the 1985 novel Heat by William Goldman, should satisfy the craving. While there was a previous adaptation from 1986 that starred Burt Reynolds, West has chosen to have action all-star Jason Statham as recovering gambling addict and lead man Nick Wild. Statham lives up to his reputation as an action star, running about Las Vegas confronting gangsters and dealing with his addiction. The film’s cast also includes Sofía Vergara, Stanley Tucci, Milo Ventimiglia, and Hope Davis, so for anyone looking for a fast-paced thriller, Wild Card is the perfect choice.
