NBA Sundays : Golden State Warriors @ Minnesota Timberwolves

This week’s BT Sport Sunday night game features the Golden State Warriors visiting the Minnesota Timberwolves

Season so far:

Golden State Warriors (51-15)

The Warriors are just coming off a loss to the Blazers without one of their stars, Steph Curry. Steph remained back in Golden State and will not be available for this game.

The Warriors season has been pretty much what we expected it to be and although they are not currently top of the standings in the Western Conference, I still have them as the team to beat. There have been missed games from Durant and Steph along the way but these guys will be ready to go come playoff time and I just can’t see any team in the NBA winning 4 out of 7 against them.

Leaders:

Points: Kevin Durant 26.4

Rebounds: Draymond Green 7.9

Assists: Draymond Green 7.4

Minnesota Timberwolves (38-29)

Minnesota made the move they needed to make back in the off-season by adding Jimmy Butler. Anytime you can add an all-star to your team and not give up that much, you have to commend the front office.

Without Butler, the Timberwolves have struggled and have dropped down to the 6th spot in the Western Conference. They will want him back very soon as they will not want to drop any further standings as then a playoff match-up looms large against either the Warriors or Rockets.

Leaders:

Points: Jimmy Butler 22.2

Rebounds: Karl-Anthony Towns 12.2

Assists: Jeff Teague 6.9

Key Players:

Kevin Durant (Warriors)

Durant takes even more responsibility for the offensive load when one of his team-mates is not around. In the last 10 games, Durant has averaged 29.7 points per game on 57% shooting and is one of the most complete players we have seen in the NBA.

Karl-Anthony Towns (Timberwolves)

The former rookie of the year became an all-star for the first time this season alongside his team-mate Jimmy Butler. Towns has been ever present this season and has blossomed further under the tutelage of new head coach, Tom Thibodeau. Towns is currently on a run of double digits in points and rebounds in 16 of his last 18 games.

Projected Starting Lineups:

Golden State Warriors

  • Draymond Green
  • Kevin Durant
  • JaVale McGee
  • Quinn Cook
  • Klay Thompson

Minnesota Timberwolves

  • Taj Gibson
  • NemanjaBjelica
  • Andrew Wiggins
  • Karl-Anthony Towns
  • Jeff Teague

Final Thoughts:

The Warriors and the Timberwolves is going to be a great game and a possible preview of a playoff series.
