Gym. Some run from it, some embrace it. Some look great whilst working out, some do not. We at Verge like to cater for the everyday girl – you know, the ones that would rather watch baking videos on instagram. We know that going to the gym is a big commitment but we hope that with this guide, you’ll be able to smash it just in time for summer.
DON’T PUNCH ABOVE YOUR WEIGHT
Take it easy. Going to the gym is meant to be a progressive process. You’re meant to start small then progress – otherwise you’re bound to have some pretty ugly injuries. Be sure to seek advice from a trainer before doing any weights.
WATER, WATER, WATER
Be sure to have plenty fluids – try to stay hydrated, especially when doing long sessions of cardio. You want all the electrolytes in your body to be replaced as you loose them to keep you energized. Be sure to talk to your doctor and trainer about how to keep that energy up.
DECIDE ON A ROUTINE
Not everyone has money for a personal trainer, especially if you’re still at Uni. We’re here to tell you that you do not have to spend big bucks on a trainer to get a great work out. We found that looking at instagram fitness accounts helped us understand how to exercise each body part that we want to improve. Look at some great routines others use and try to implement them in your routine.
SWITCH IT UP
The more you stick to one routine, the more your body actually becomes used to it and it has less of an impact. You want to try to switch up your gym routine as much as possible- keep it fresh and fun for the best results.
DON’T GIVE UP
We know that the novelty of going to the gym fades and we’d rather go home with a take-out than head to the gym. Keep it going! Going to the gym only has positive effects mentally and physically. It reduces stress, releases endorphins and can be a great hobby, don’t slack!
