Since 1998, the MTV Staying Alive Foundation has been on a mission to raise awareness and prevent HIV among young people around the world.
But why HIV? Well, since 2001 there has been a 50% increase in HIV–related deaths in young people between the ages of 10 and 19 years of age and a staggering 42% of new HIV infections globally were among 15 to 24 year olds.
The MTV Staying Alive Foundation has pioneered youth-led and youth-focused approaches to HIV prevention.
