Eddie Redmayne in first trailer for The Danish Girl

Eddie Redmayne is a pretty phenomenal actor, just ask the academy and his oscar for portraying Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.  Redmayne took on his post- oscar role portraying Lili Elbe, a transgender woman in The Danish Girl.  Throughout the recent years and progression of the LGBT community, this movie could not have been produced at a better time.

Based off David Ebershoff’s historical novel on the real life Lili Elbe, the first official trailer dishes out just the right amount of emotion that makes the anticipation for the theater release unbearable and is already sparking up some oscar worthy buzz.

Lili Elbe was a Danish artist, who would be one of the first recipients of gender reassignment surgery that was still very experimental during her time. Lili’s wife Gerda, played by Alicia Vikander, was an artist as well and would ask her husband, then known as Einar, to stand in to substitute as a female model when one was not available. From there the story unfolds, as Lili comes to life.

The Danish Girl hits theaters on November 27th.
