Leeds-based ‘hot blooded’ Indie rock 5-piece Brothers Water get set to release debut EP Your Name In Paint on 12 February 2016. After releasing EP tracks ‘Mascara’ and ‘Do What You Like’ in 2015 and picking up support from music tastemakers including BBC Introducing, Sofar Sessions and Clash, the group unveil third track ‘Quick & Clean’ ahead of the EP release date.
“We recorded the EP over the course of two sessions at the idyllic Doghouse Studios (Henley on Thames) under the guidance of our engineer MsM and the production team Sticky Blood (Andy Nicholson and Jamie Shields). The EP is an intimate reflection of our development as a band and as songwriters, and yet it’s only the first step for what we have planned.”
Brothers Water are named after a lake that lies in the crook of a sharp, steep valley. It’s wild and dark, but also gorgeous and it’s not far from home. And their music is just as evocative and fierce as that place is.
They came together in Carlisle under the moniker of Jakarta Club when they were just kids and always hated the name (despite the tattoos), playing wherever people would listen to them, whether that meant Latvian Shakespearian festivals or Newquay comedy clubs.
The boys are now Leeds based and all live under the same roof. Which is a nightmare. Sometimes. But there is a new name, a new member and a new focus. They are: Chris Redgate (vocals), Ed Campbell (guitar), Joe Ashmore (guitar), Josh Thomas (drums) and Sean Luttman (bass). January 2016 will bring their debut EP ‘Your Name in Paint’ and opening salvo.
The EP was recorded on the hallowed ground of the Doghouse studio, Henley, under the guidance of Michaelis ‘MSM’ Michael (Skepta, Zak Abel) with help from Sticky Blood producers Andy Nicholson (Arctic Monkeys) and Jamie Shield. An early release of first single ‘Mascara’ has had airplay on Radio 1 and BBC
Introducing, setting a precedent for what should be a noteworthy debut.
