It’s been a minute since we have heard even a whisper of new music from the mononymously known singer Adele. After releasing her debut album, 19, and her sophomore studio album, 21, in early 2011, she became an extremely loved and well-known sensation earning her numerous awards and world wide recognition. In 2012 alone she received a record-tying 6 Grammys, 2 Brit Awards, and 3 American Music Awards as well as many mentions in the Guinness Book of World Records and getting named by Time magazine as one of the most influential people in the world.
After recovering from a microsurgery on her throat in late 2011, she made a live comeback at the Grammy’s for her monumental award season in 2012. Then, after winning Best Pop Solo Performance in 2013 bringing her total Grammy wins to 9!, she confirmed that her third album and return to the pop music scene would be at least 2 years away. She stated in an interview, “I have to take time and live a little bit”, making it also clear that she needed time to continue to write and compose the caliber of music we have come to expect from her… and thus her hiatus began.
Though rumors have circulated and excitement has started on potential release dates and collaborations for her third studio album for over the past year, it was finally confirmed by Adele’s label on August 27, 2015, that her third studio album is planning on being released this November! The record will include contributions from Danger Mouse on a single, a track written by Tobias Jesso Jr, and Ryan Tedder has come back after producing and co-writing “Rumor Has It” on 21. As well, Sia has recently foreshadowed a new LP to include a co-writing collaboration with Adele originally written for Adele’s third album.
So stay hopeful Adele fans new music is to be coming soon, though blasting her former tracks through showers and heartbreak will never tire.
