With only 70 days to Bestival 2015 — not that we are counting — it’s time to stay excited for one of the best festivals in the UK starting at the end of this Summer. To help keep spirits high while waiting for the weekend of Sept. 10 to finally arrive, we have listed our favorite seven songs to help stay pumped for the next couple months.
Of course, Bestival is much more than just a music festival. With art, cinema, and differently-themed areas, Bestival provides an experience unlike others. However, we have focused only on the great line-up to help maintain our energy (for now).
Hungry Like the Wolf
’80s rockers Duran Duran are back as a headliner for Bestival this year, and listening to this tune, it isn’t hard to imagine why. Hungry Like the Wolf incorporates all aspects needed to make a great song: it’s easy to sing (or howl) along to, has a recognizable melody, and mentions wolves, which are clearly one of the most rock-and-roll animals.
Get Ur Freak On
As Missy Elliott sings in the song, “I’m the hottest ’round.” We aren’t doubting her.
Feels Like We Only Go Backwards
Tame Impala are not new to the festival scene, and the Australian band are sure to be a can’t miss act at Bestival this year. Feels Like We Only Go Backwards was one of the bands biggest songs, and has a message that (unfortunately) most can relate to. Don’t worry: the band also has a large amount of happier, fast-paced songs, and their stage energy even uplifts this slightly-depressing tune.
This Mark Ronson song featuring Bruno Mars quickly became a pop sensation this year, and it is a song that (so far) has not managed to get old. The old-school feel and fun lyrics help to make it a hit, and for this reason we can’t wait to see Ronson at Bestival for a set made to dance along to.
Break the Rules
Breaking the rules isn’t a new concept for pop sensation Charli XCX, who has already broken the charts with previous hits including Boom Clap, featured in the movie The Fault in Our Stars, and I Love It, which she featured on with Icona Pop.
I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)
After spending some time alone from his band The xx, Jamie xx recently released his first solo album, which has quickly earned rave reviews, including the title of Best New Music from Pitchfork.
English band Jungle is not to be missed at Bestival, as DIY said, they are a “spectacular live band.” Their unique sound of indie-funk makes for a fun and interesting listening experience.
