10 Essentials: Tinie Tempah

tinie-picWe caught up with Tinie Tempah at the launch of LifeSkills, a programme created with Barclays that offers 18-24-year-olds the opportunity to secure a Work Experience of a Lifetime at some of the biggest sport and entertainment brands in the UK.

Whilst we were there, Tinie gave us the low down on his 10 essentials:

JBL Headphones – I love listening to music and especially in good quality, so my JBL’s are very important to me and I’m loving them at the moment.

My family – I work very closely with them, my manager is my cousin, I work with my sister, so we are all very close. I couldn’t do what I do without their support.

Hamburgers – I love the things! My favourite burger is from Shake Shack. I’m even wearing a hamburger necklace right now. In December 2015, I named my album ‘Junkfood’.

Hip Hop – Hip Hop is my favourite music genre. In Hip Hop, I found my calling. Eminem, Lil Wayne, Drake, Jay-Z and Kanye are all but some of my favourite Hip Hop artists

Travelling – Now that I’ve seen quite a bit of the world, I realise it’s so important to get out and travel. We shouldn’t just stay in England if we’re from England. Likewise, if you’re Spanish, you shouldn’t stay in Spain. You should aim to experience food in the country it’s from.  My favourite country is Brazil – I love everything about it. Everything is beautiful – the women, the sand, the air, the colours.

Rose Gold – It’s my favourite colour. I have rose gold everything – my jewellery is rose gold, I’ve got a BA gold card. I’m even trying to get myself a gold mic. I would make everything rose gold if I could.

tinytempah_10essentialsSneakers – Regardless of anything else that you wear, trainers form part of your identity. Whether you’re wearing Jordan’s, Yeezies, running shoes… trainers are a clear sign of your identity.

Shades – My shades help form my character. As a performer, shades have always been really important to me. You put them on, it gives you something extra and you’re ready to go.

Koi Fish – I have some of these fish, I love them and they’re massive. Honestly huge. Every morning I feed them and it’s such a nice feeling. I haven’t named them or anything but there’s one I call ‘the greedy one’ and the other, ‘the dominant one’. Greedy is definitely my favourite. As soon as I get in the door, he sticks his head out because he knows what’s coming.

Rice – I couldn’t live without it. Basmati, red, brown, jasmine, rice with raisins. I love it all. Rice is nice.
