Kirsten shares her top 10 essential items that she just can’t leave the house or travel without!

Books

Okay, so you may have noticed I said “books” because honestly, books are everything, right? As an avid book reader and one of those weird people who loves the smell of books and can spend all day in a bookstore and library, you can see how books are an essential to this bookworm. No matter the occasion, I always carry a book with me out of habit. What am I currently reading you might ask? Well, I am reading Alexander Hamilton’s Guide to Life by Jeff Wilser.

Canon EOS Rebel

In a world filled with people snapping pictures with their iPhone, and myself too at times, I decided to invest in a camera that can capture those perfect moments and picturesque locations to share on the Insta. The camera of choice – the Canon EOS Rebel T5 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm and 75-300mm Lenses.

Daily Planner

Do you remember those daily planners your schools would hand out at the beginning of every year? Well, some habits are hard to quit, especially if they are good ones. All throughout my youth, Uni, and the real world, carrying a daily planner with me is a must, and I religiously do so. I know, most people keep track of their appointments via their phones or computers, but it is the habit of writing everything down that makes me so attached to my planner. A one-stop shop for some of the most stylish planners is right at Rifle Paper Co.

100% Pure Argan Oil

This is pretty much liquid gold and everything amazing. One pet-peeve is when makeup creases under my eyes and with a little dab of some argan oil, say goodbye to the clump of makeup! I have two 1.6 fl oz/50 ml bottles of argan oil by Shea Moisture and carry one with me that I tuck away in my tote. Apart from all of its benefits, when I need a little freshening up, a few dabs under the eyes and I am ready to go.

10essentials

Notebook

When your mind is always busy and swarming with ideas, it’s smart to carry a stylish notebook. You never know when you might come up with a brilliant idea that you need to remember or just feel like being creative.

Lip Balm

Nothing is worse than having chapped lips and not having any lip balm! Apart from your lips being as dry as Spongebob Squarepants out of water, you can’t stop thinking about how chapped your lips are and licking them will not do you favours. Burt’s Bees Medicated Lip Balm is my absolute go to. Menthol, Eucalyptus, and 100% natural – yes, please.

A Water Bottle

Water is life! I drink a lot of water, so having a water bottle on me 24-7 is a must. I hate running to the vending machine to buy bottled water, so to save a little bit of money and to cut down on plastic waste, I carry around my Bubba in Island Teal.

Sperry Boat Shoe

Seriously, I don’t think I could love another shoe! If I am packing for a trip, I can assure you that you will find a pair of Sperry’s in my luggage. Not only do they pair well with my wardrobe, but they are also super comfortable and durable.

Instagram/Bookstagram?

Since books are one of my essentials, bookstagram accounts on Instagram makes sense. If I am looking for a new book or need a bit of inspiration, I scroll through the world of Instagram looking for my next read or favorite book blogger to follow.

Coffee

Do I really need to explain? I get up around 5:00 a.m. every day, so coffee is essential to keep me going! I make my cup of joe in the morning (and yes, I carry around a travel mug) and throughout the day, I refill up when I need a caffeine fix. Mmmmmm and let’s not forget how good a fresh brew smells!
